What would be the best sized amplifier for my truck?
I have a 1994 dodge dakota and I want to put a system in it. I have a box and two twelve inch pioneer subwoofers that will put out 350 watts and 1400 watts max peak. What would be the best amplifier and how many watts would it have to be in order for it to work without costing me a fortune.

Add the total RMS watts of the subs and find a mono channel amp that has the same RMS watts. You must also know what the impedance (ohms) the subs are each. Depending on how you wire them (parallel or series), they will differ in the impedance.
If the subs are 4 ohm each:
wired in parallel = 2 ohm
wired in series = 8 ohm
So a mono amp at the total RMS watts @ 2 ohms is what you need.
Using what you have (if 350 watts is the RMS rating), then you would get a 700 watt RMS amp @ 2 ohm.

You can aslo get a two channel amp (recommended) and match the RMS watts of each sub to each channel on the amp. Then if the subs are 4 ohm, all you would need is a (however many watts RMS per sub) X 2 @ 4 ohms.
Using what you have (if 350 watts is the RMS rating), then you would get a 350 watt RMS X 2 amp @ 4 ohm.
I recommend the two channel because an amp will run cooler witha 4 ohm load versus a 2 ohm load. Plus, total harmonic distortion is less on a 4 ohm load than a 2 ohm.
The box the subs go in is also very important. Go here for info on boxes (and other tips) if you plan on building it yourself:

The size only matters if you dont have enough power from your cd player
ghetto blaster
